Thank you for inquiring about adopting a dog through ALMA Rescue. If you can provide the love and special home our ALMA dog deserves, we will do our best to provide you with a dog that will be a wonderful addition to your family.

 

The procedure for adopting a dog through ALMA Rescue is as follows:

 

1. Please complete the online application

2. After your application has been received, Erin or Laurie will call you and conduct a phone interview to discuss ALMA Rescue’s protocol for determining if one of our rescue dogs would be a good match for you. A home check from one of our ALMA representatives is necessary to complete the process.

3. Our Adoption Fees generally range from $395 - $495. Occasionally Adoption fees can be higher, depending on the medical vetting or boarding costs a certain dog may require. *Please note that this fee helps to cover all of ALMA’s expenses, included but not limited to: initial puppy exam, all vaccinations & immunizations appropriate with dog’s age, flea & tick treatment, fecal exams and de-worming, medications, micro-chipping, spaying and neutering surgeries, food and costs of caring for the dog as well as for transportation costs of the animal coming from Baja, Mexico, another city or state.

4.  We reserve the right to refuse an applicant if, in our opinion, the home situation is not compatible with the needs of an ALMA Rescue dog. We require that the dog be maintained primarily as an indoor dog and absolutely cannot be chained, tethered or left unattended in a yard, used as a security system or left alone in a crate for more than 3-4 hours during the day.

5. Please note that we are a private rescue, not a shelter, and we receive many applications. We do not have the volunteers to follow up on all the applications received, so we will only be contacting the applicants that best fits the needs of our dogs. We have successfully placed over 500 ALMA dogs and cats in loving homes across Southern California and other states around the country since 2019! Our organization is comprised of hard working volunteers whose only reward is seeing these wonderful dogs placed in loving homes and given a second chance for a happy life.

 

The answers you give on this application will help us find the best possible match between you and an ALMA Rescue dog.  Again, a home inspection is required at the time of adoption.
